Raising

Raising is a step beyond betting and represents the ultimate statement of strength. The implications of and reasons for raising are identical to those of and for betting, but with one key difference. In order to raise, there must first have already been a Bet (which is a declaration of strength). Therefore, when we raise, we are responding to this statement of strength with our own statement of greater strength: Our opponent is saying "I have a strong hand" and we are saying "I have a stronger hand"
